The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey
Day 13 – Vidor and Beer Sheva

Dear NCSY TJJ Bus 6 Family,

Almost every visitor who arrives in the Arava asks himself: who are these crazy people that have built their lives in the middle of the desert? What is growing in the hundreds of greenhouses? How could there be so much water in the Arava?

At the Vidor Center we learned and experienced in a unique interactive way what the Arava is all about!

Continuing our exploration of the Negev desert we arrived in the capital city of the area, Beer Sheva.  This backwater town has flourished in the last few years and we saw how with our own eyes the innovation and creativity throughout the day while visiting the cutting edge science museum, the Shaar Hanegev visitors center and the World War 1 Anzac museum.

The desert really can bloom if one dreams it!

Tomorrow it’s off to visit the house and grave of one of the greatest visionaries, David Ben-Gurion and then we will spend the night in a Bedouin tent!

Until then good night,

Rabbi Shmulie Greene
