The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey
Day 15 – Ethiopian Village, Latrun and Kotel

Dear NCSY NJ TJJ Bus 6 Family,

We started off our day leaving the tents we slept in and heading over to a reenacted structure of an Ethiopian Jewish village where we had the opportunity to come into contact with the marvelous culture of the Jews of Ethiopia.

On our way up to Jerusalem we stopped and explored Latrun, a site of a fierce tank battle that was waged there during the Israel independence war and now is home to a memorial and museum that is dedicated to the Armored Corp.

Then we finally reached the highlight of our trip to Israel. After traveling in the northern Golan and Galilee, the southern Negev, the coastal cities, we finally arrived at the heart of Israel – Jerusalem. We first stopped at the Tayelet, a beautiful lookout over the Old City of Jerusalem. We saw the Temple Mount and mourned for the loss of our Temple, and recognized how lucky we are to have the opportunity to visit such a holy cite, something our ancestors only dreamed of.

We finally made our way to the Kotel, the Western Wall, a first for many of our group. We spent time praying and singing, connecting to the holiest of locations.

Our home in Jerusalem for the next few days is at ANA Rabin and we are now preparing for the coming day!

Good night,

Rabbi Shmulie Greene
