Dear NCSY NJ TJJ Bus 6 Family,

Greetings from the CITY OF GOLD!!

What an amazing Shabbat spent in the holiest city in the world! On Friday night we went up to the Kotel for a fantastic Shabbat Tefilah!! We joined together with other NCSY Summer Programs as well as Jews from all walks of life in welcoming the Shabbat. Following our amazing Teffila we walked to the OU center for a great dinner, together with the Head of the OU, Mr. Allen Fagin, followed by the next leg of our walk back to the hotel.

We celebrated Shabbat day in ANA Rabin where we had great sessions from our advisors and tremendous ruach, spirit, throughout the day. As Shabbat slowly ended we conducted one last “ebbing” together as we watched the sunset from the balcony and transitioned into Tisha Ba’Av, the saddest day in the Jewish calendar. 

On Tishav B’Av night we read out different calamities that were brought upon the Jewish people throughout the generations. After we read each tragedy we blew out the candle that was in front of the reader. We then ended the activity by relighting the candle once a good deed was accepted upon the reader in order to bring more light into our dark world.  We were then privileged to hear from our bus driver tell his story of how his wife was murdered by terrorists in 2001 and how he has raised his 4 children on his own since the tragic event.

May we all be comforted by God and be taken out of this horrible exile once and for all in the very near future!
