Dear NCSY TJJ NJ Bus 6 Family,
Today, Tuesday, we commemorated the 9th of Av, the saddest day in the Jewish calendar.
On Tishav B’Av night we read out different calamities that were brought upon the Jewish people throughout the generations. After we read each tragedy we blew out the candle that was in front of the reader. We then ended the activity by relighting the candle once a good deed was accepted upon the reader in order to bring more light into our dark world.
During the day we read 6 lamentations that referred to different periods of time in Jewish history. We then viewed the movie “Beneath the Helmet”.
Towards the end of the day we travelled to the Kotel where we joined thousands of other Jews in prayer and song for our ultimate redemption.
We ate a delicious break fast at Bardak and came back to the hotel to prepare for another wonderful day and Yom NCSY!
Best,
Rabbi Shmulie Greene
