The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey
Day 5 – Shabbat in the Golan

Dear NSCY TJJ NJ Bus 6 Family,

We had a very restful and fun first shabbat as a TJJ family. We started off with receiving the Shabbat Queen by praying Kabbalat Shabbat outside overlooking the Golan. Shabbat dinner was delicious and we stayed up eating snacks outside of our rooms until we all decided we needed our Shabbat rest.

We were able to wake up late and started our day with a relevant lesson we learn from the Torah portion of the week – Parashat Pinchas. We then ate some snacks at our NCSY TJJ kiddush and then divided up into different groups to study topics that are close to the heart of our Advisors.

Lunch was terrific and we then were able to really enjoy our Shabbat while resting during the early afternoon.

We then participated in a thought provoking game called “The Jewish Future”, walked to the overlook at Alonei Habashan named after Shachar Bar-Lev, the last casualty of the Gaza war of 2014 guided by our tour guide, Miriam Fox, ate our third meal, sang until Shabbat ended and made an inspiring NCSY TJJ community Havdalah.

Our Saturday night ended with a one night color war and we are now wrapping up to get ready for Kfar Kedem, Tziporri and Pekiin tomorrow!

Good night and Shavua Tov (have a good week)!
