The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey
Tel-Aviv Yafo

Dearest Bus 6 Family!

Today we left Bayit ViGan and traveled to the beautiful city of Tel Aviv. There we saw majestic murals of the development of the city and enjoyed feeling part of Israeli modern heart.

As we took in the Independence Hall where Israel was declared a state, everyone could feel their jewish pride soar as they heard the Hatikvah echo through the room. From Idependance Hall we traveled to Rabin square where we learned about Prime minister Rabin and his legacy. Standing in the place where Rabin was cut down we were able to confront the weighty issue of peace in the Middle East and learn about the great men who strived to achieve it. Following the Rabin memorial we enjoyed a sumptuous lunch of shnitzle and chicken in the Square. For those observing the fast day on Sunday, we took time to discuss why the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed and how we could see parallels in modern events and issues.

The afternoon found us exploring the Yafo flea market where we practiced our hand at finding great deals at low prices. Bracelets, Mezuzahs, Bob Marley pants and Chamsahs were just a few of the things that came back on the bus from the flea market. We proceeded to the Yafo old city were we explored its history and culture. We made a brief stop on the port to listen to the ocean and meditate over our time I Israel and the goals we wish to accomplish during our stay.

Our day concluded with a long drive to the Golan heights where we will be staying this week.

Best,
Chaim
